HDFS Explorer is a GUI file manager for the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). GUI access to HDFS brings several benefits such as the ability to easily navigate folder structures and drag and drop files in and out of your Hadoop cluster.

If you're planning to use HDFS Explorer with the Hortonworks Sandbox or Cloudera VM, you'll need to define your Hadoop clusters IP and hostname in Windows. These instructions show how to connect to the Hortonworks Sandbox, but are also applicable to the Cloudera QuickStart VM.
192.168.56.101 sandbox.hortonworks.com sandboxand save the changes.
Note: if you have configured your Sandbox to use a different IP address, then you'll need to change the IP address in the snippet above.
